With BMX Racing becoming an Olympic event in 2008 and the Swatch UCI BMX Supercross gaining more TV coverage. Britain's latest tracks have come on humps and mounds in the last four years or so, and our own Track Designers and Contractors are pushing the riders even more with them creations.

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games BMX Track
Looking at the Start Hill at Beijing, Warsop BMX Track was ahead of it's time with their steep run in. However now it has been reduced in height.
Bmx racing is only going to grow in popular in Britain as it draws closer to the London 2012 Olympics.
Now the 2010 Winter Olympics has passed, some of the most viewed events were the Ski and Board Cross which again was a new event for this year. People I spoke to who were not that hooked on Winter Sports, would say I did enjoy watching that Boardercross event thou, for all the jumps, falls and speed involved. Maybe our media will get behind our sport and give it some postive coverage it deserves so we can get a similar reaction to what Boarder and Ski Cross received in the Vancover Winter Olympics.
One of the Britain's BMX tracks, I feel ticks all the right boxes is the new track at Crewe.

Manchester, England will soon be home to the World's first purpose built indoor BMX track and training centre. Up to £24 million of funding has been granted by various Governing bodies for this 2,000 spectator indoor arena which will draw even more events into the City of Manchester. Hopefully local adults and children will benefit from this facility too and have the chance to learn new bike skills. There are plans to have an outdoor concrete skatepark inthe same area so that it involves all aspests on BMXing.

The New Home of U.K BMX (Indoor) - Manchester Sport City
It is being built next to the Manchester Velodrome in the area known as Sports City. Once complete, the British Cycling Team will move into their new offices which will be located between the two world class venues and hopefully this will benefit the GB cycling Team to the top once again.

As you may be aware there is going to be a new concrete skatepark in Clifton, just outside Nottingham.
Below is an overview of the Park project as a whole including the skatepark and BMX Track in the top left corner adajcent to Farnborough Road, this scheme below has not be finalized as is still at the consultation stage with all parties involved.

Proposed Clifton, Nottingham Skatepark, Dirt Jumps/BMX Track Scheme
There is a meeting on Wednesday 2nd December at 6.00pm at Green Lane Youth Club, Clifton off South Church Drive with the Council to discuss the proposals. The meeting is planned to finish about 7.30pm so if you get back from work late you could still catch the tail end of the meeting.
This Skatepark meeting didn't seem that well publicized by Nottingham City Council, so that next one needs to be pushed more by us users.
Please attend to show your support and express your idea's.
Check out Nottingham City Council's Website for contact details and brief details of their proposals.
